FAQ: Single sign on (SSO)

Commonly-asked questions about single sign on.

Which single sign on (SSO) options are available?

We currently support single sign on (SSO) using Google. We plan to support Microsoft identities in the very near future.

All our staff log currently in to Medical Tracker using their email and password. How will this change things?

Users will still be able to access the platform using their email and password. They now have the option of adding single sign on (SSO) as an additional method of verifying their identity.

What happens if if we already have multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled in Medical Tracker?

If multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled for specific users or teams—or your entire organisation—then they will continue to receive a one-time code to their email address which they will need to enter this to log in to the app. This is in addition to any MFA checks that may already be in place for the user's Google account.

Our help doc on multi-factor authentication explains how to set up or change MFA for users in Medical Tracker.

Can I configure my account so that the staff at my school can only log in using SSO?

Not currently.

Staff can choose to use either option—email and password or single sign on. Both routes will link to the same account and can be used interchangeably.
