How to manage medication expiry dates

You can easily manage all medication expiry dates for students in one easy list.

Using Medical Tracker means you can keep up to date on all the medication that is held in school. You can also keep staff and parents fully informed using email notifications.

In the Medication Stock/Expiry module, you can easily see the current status of your recorded medications. On the left, you have a tracker to display how many medications you have recorded, and how close to their expiry date they are.

In the middle of the page, you have the list of medications, where you can sort the medications by expiry date. You can also see if the medication is related to a care plan, or if any communication has been sent out regarding the expiry date or stock.

There are two ways to do this based on whether the expiry is linked to a Medical Condition. You can check this by checking the far-right column of the page, as seen in the image above.

We recommend that you record all medication expiration dates on the Medical Conditions panel.

To do this, navigate to a student's Medical Conditions profile and edit the record.

Fill in the medication details including the expiry date and save the record. Once saved, the Medication Expiry record will also be updated.

The second way is to record an expiry date on the Medication Expiry page directly and edit it once you have received the new medication.

In the Medication Expiry module, click new.

Add the student's details, the name of the medication and its expiry date, pressing save once completed.
You have the option to log this as a 'School Medication' if the medication belongs to the school.

You are then able to select the expiry and edit the record directly when you have received the new medication by clicking on a student's medication profile from the Medication Expiry module.
